About DeepL Translator

What it is

DeepL translates text and whole document files while keeping their formatting, with a free tier in the browser and apps, a paid tier for teams, and an API. The wider product now includes a writing assistant, real-time voice translation, and integrations into the tools people already work in.

Why it's different

Its reputation rests on register rather than accuracy alone: the output reads like something a person would write, where general engines produce sentences that are correct and obviously translated. That difference is what makes it usable for material you will actually send. It covers fewer languages than the big general engines, and it is not a substitute for a human translator on anything legal, medical or contractual, where a fluent wrong sentence is more dangerous than a clumsy right one.

How people use it

Business correspondence and documentation across languages. Reading source material in a language you do not have. Localising marketing copy as a first pass. Have a native speaker read anything customer-facing, because fluency is exactly what stops you noticing an error.
