About Fathom
What it is
Fathom joins your video calls, records and transcribes them, and produces summaries and action points afterwards, syncing the result into a CRM where one is connected.
Why it's different
Its free tier is unusually generous for this category, covering full recording, transcription and summaries at no cost for an individual, which makes it a starting point rather than a trial. The summaries are good and it stays out of the way during a call. The considerations are those of every notetaker: a bot visibly joins your meetings, which some clients dislike, and recordings of client conversations are personal data carrying consent obligations in the UK and EU.
How people use it
Solo professionals and small teams wanting call notes without cost. Sales calls that must reach a CRM. Recalling what was agreed weeks later. Tell people they are being recorded and why at the start of the call, because a bot appearing in the participant list is not consent and in several jurisdictions is not sufficient.
