What it is
Almanack generates lesson plans, worksheets, quizzes and assessments, but anchors them to the curriculum and standards a teacher is already required to teach and to the real school calendar. It differentiates a single lesson into below-grade, above-grade, ELL and IEP-accommodated versions in one step, replans pacing when the calendar slips, and generates standards-aligned assessments that feed a gradebook.
Why it's different
The distinction from a general chatbot is that it does not start from nothing. A teacher asking ChatGPT for a lesson gets something plausible that ignores the scheme of work, the standards, and what was taught last Tuesday. Almanack's differentiation feature is the strongest part, because producing four versions of a lesson is the task teachers most reliably skip for lack of time. The limits are the usual ones: standards alignment is asserted by the model, so a plan can be labelled with a standard it does not really meet, and everything it produces still needs a teacher to read it before it reaches a class.
How people use it
It is used for the bulk work around teaching rather than teaching itself — turning an existing unit into the week's worksheets, producing the differentiated versions for a mixed class, generating a quiz that matches what was actually covered.
