What it is
Datacurve supplies training data — specifically coding and engineering data — to frontier AI labs. It sources it through Shipd, a bounty platform where experienced software engineers are paid for completing algorithm, testing and interface challenges, producing data written by people who can actually do the work rather than scraped or crowdsourced cheaply.
Why it's different
The insight is about where model quality now comes from. Scraped public code is exhausted and full of bugs, and cheap annotation cannot produce expert engineering judgement. Paying competent engineers properly for deliberately constructed examples is a different input, and it is plausibly what separates models that write good code from ones that write code shaped like good code.
