About Ellis

What it is

Ellis is an operations platform for private credit funds. It connects to the systems a fund already runs, reconciles them into a single consistent book, and deploys agents to automate reconciliation, period close, reporting and portfolio monitoring.

Why it's different

Private credit has grown enormously while its operational tooling has not, and the result is genuinely bad: funds run on spreadsheets and a loan administration system that disagree, reconciled by hand under a monthly deadline. Attacking reconciliation first is the right order, because every downstream number depends on it and agents running over an unreconciled book produce confident nonsense. The caveats are about consequence. These are the numbers reported to investors and regulators, so an error is not an inconvenience, and any deployment needs the reconciliation checkable rather than merely fast. It is also narrow by design — the domain knowledge is the product, which means it is irrelevant outside private credit.

How people use it

It is used by fund operations teams whose close is a multi-week manual exercise and whose portfolio monitoring lags reality. The order that works is reconciliation proven first against a period the team has already closed by hand — that comparison is the only real evidence — then automating close, then monitoring. Keep human sign-off on anything reported externally.
