About Layla
What it is
Layla plans travel through conversation. You give it dates, a budget and a sense of what you like, and it assembles a personalised itinerary covering flights, accommodation, activities and places to eat, which you then refine by talking to it rather than by opening more tabs.
Why it's different
The part it genuinely improves is the beginning — the stage where you do not yet know where you are going, which is badly served by booking sites that require you to already have decided. A conversation is the right interface for narrowing options. What it cannot fix is the underlying economics: travel recommendations are monetised through booking commissions across the entire industry, and a suggestion is never purely a suggestion. Recommendations also skew heavily towards the well-trodden, because that is what the training data and the affiliate inventory contain, so it is better at a competent first trip to a major city than at anything unusual.
How people use it
It is most useful at the inspiration and outline stage: producing a plausible structure for a week somewhere, which you then verify and book yourself. Seasoned travellers use it to compress the research phase and then override half of it. Always check opening times, prices and whether a recommended place still exists before relying on the itinerary, and compare flight and hotel prices directly rather than through the links.
