About Simplify

What it is

Simplify is a browser extension and profile for job hunting. You fill in your details once, and the extension then completes applications across more than fifty job boards and thousands of company career sites — including the notoriously repetitive workflows from the major applicant tracking systems. It also matches you to roles and tracks what you have applied for. The core product is free.

Why it's different

The problem it solves is unglamorous and enormous: the same information retyped into a different badly designed form forty times, which is why people stop applying long before they run out of suitable jobs. Autofill across the actual ATS platforms companies use is harder than it sounds and is the whole product. Being free is genuine rather than a trial, though the usual question applies about how a free product built on your complete employment history eventually makes money. Autofill also breaks when a site changes its form, so it is a very good assistant and not a reliable robot.

How people use it

The realistic use is volume with attention: let it handle the fields that are identical everywhere, and write the cover letter and the why this company answer yourself, because those are the only parts anyone reads. The tracker earns its keep by week three. Always read the completed form before submitting — a stale autofilled field is a worse impression than a slow application.
